฿990.00

Butter Daisy, or Melampodium, is a small, reliable, and low-maintenance annual in the aster family. Native to Mexico and Brazil, this hardy plant grows to around 2 feet in height and 1 foot in width. Its daisy-like yellow flowers bloom profusely from May until frost, contrasting nicely with its bright green foliage. The leaves are opposite, slightly fuzzy, and have smooth or wavy margins that may be lightly toothed. The name Melampodium comes from the Greek words melam (black) and pous (foot), referring to its dark-colored stems. The species name signifies its tendency to grow in a spreading, straggling manner.

Once established, Melampodium is drought-tolerant and handles humid summers well. For planting from seed, sow directly into the garden after the last frost. If you want to get an early start, you can begin seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant them after the frost risk has passed.
